About
I am the Pastor of Campuses for The Chapel, an exciting vision-driven church of about 5,000 with five campuses in the
northern Chicagoland area. I’ve had the privilege of serving at The Chapel for the past seven years. As the Pastor of Campuses, I oversee the existing campus teams and the development of new campus opportunities.
My initial career was in the field of information technology within the financial services industry. I started as a computer programmer on mainframe platforms using languages such as BAL and COBOL (yes, I am that old!). But it wasn’t long before I
gravitated toward leadership roles and responsibilities. I was blessed with some amazing opportunities over the 22 years in the corporate world.
In 1997, at the age of 38, I was led to receive Jesus, as the leader of my life and forgiver of my sins, by my 10 year old son at a PromiseKeepers’ convention in Milwaukee. I can honestly say that no area of my life has escaped unchanged (thankfully!). God got a hold of my marriage, my parenting, my beliefs, my attitudes and my dreams for the future. We began attending The Chapel shortly after that and quickly found the place we’ve called home ever since.
I had the amazing privilege of being discipled by both of our Senior Pastors – first Jeff Griffin and later Scott Chapman. What amazing men they are! Their influence was and continues to be foundational in my life. Having been blessed by such mentoring, I have been given a passion to pay it forward by mentoring others in the faith.
Answering what I understood to be God’s call into vocational ministry, I joined The Chapel staff in 2002. I started as the Family
Guy (before the show), but only spent about six months in that role before transitioning into the Executive Pastor of Ministries position. We’ve seen God’s hand of favor upon us as we’ve grown, in size, impact and maturity as a church. We entered the world of multi-site a few years ago, going from one to five campuses in about 3 months time. I transitioned to my current role about a year ago, which is a great fit for my experience, gifting and passion.
I am passionate about seeing the church – the bride of Christ – become beautiful in His eyes. I love identifying and developing emerging leaders and helping them activate their gifts for the kingdom. I have a special place in my heart to see hurting marriages healed and parents falling head over heels in love with their kids.
God has blessed me in so many ways. He has given me Carol, my sweet, godly wife. She loves and supports me amazingly, both in my life and ministry. He has gifted us with a quiver of many arrows through our eight children. Three of our children are ‘biological’, two joined our family through foster care, and we adopted three (twice domestically and once internationally). Our oldest is 28 and our youngest is just three. We aren’t like any other family, but it is family to us, and we love it!
I am personally experiencing the reality of John
10:10, where Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” Jesus is patiently transforming every area of my life and I’m loving it. To God be the glory!
